Chicago – March 31, 2020 – The Illinois Woman’s Press Association is pleased to announce that Nikoleta Morales of Chicago, has been recognized as its 2020 Communicator of Achievement. This award is given to a member in recognition of exceptional achievement in the communications fields, as well as contributions made to the organization and the community.

“Nikoleta is one of our newer members but has shown the dedication and commitment to IWPA that’s normally seen in more long-term members,” said IWPA President Cora Weisenberger. “With her dedication and enthusiasm, she will undoubtably make important contributions to our Chapter and to the communications profession.”

“I am absolutely honored to have been chosen as the 2020 Communicator of Achievement. To have others see and appreciate your work is so important and heart-warming,” said Morales. “Being named as a COA is one of the highest achievements and honors for me. After practicing journalism internationally for more than 12 years, it feels amazing to receive this award.”

In addition to state recognition, Morales will vie for the national Communicator of Achievement Award presented by the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW). The recipient, chosen from nominees selected by other NFPW state affiliates, is recognized for exceptional achievement in the communications field. The winner will be announced in June during NFPW’s annual conference in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Morales works as an Associate Editor for Community Health Magazine. She also writes for FF2 Media, Lawndale News, Cultured Focus Magazine and Montana Press. She won the 2019 Miss Infinity Chicago Faces of Global Change pageant organized by Miss Infinity International, a non-profit group. She has covered the 2019 and 2020 Academy Awards, and the 2019 and 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Morales has received awards from the NFPW and the Chicago Journalism Association. Morales is the current Treasurer for IWPA.
