February is a great time to reflect back on your accomplishments from the past year. It is a time to celebrate your successes and make new goals.

If you or someone you know had a successful 2020, consider entering the results of those accomplishments in the 2021 NFPW Communications contest.

The contest has categories for all types of communications professionals. Newspaper reporters, editors, copyeditors, photographers, authors, bloggers, magazine and other publication authors, public relations professionals and the list goes on. If it is communications related, we likely have a category that will cover the entry. We even have categories for college students who are learning and advancing their skills. We are continually looking for more student entries in the contest.

If you know of a friend or co-worker who produced some outstanding work in 2020, encourage them to enter as well. The contest is a great way to have someone review your work and provide feedback and encouragement. If your work rises to the top of the category, it will advance to a national round of judging and the winners will be honored at the NFPW Communications Contest awards event, June 11, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Here is a reminder of the contest deadlines:

  • Feb. 3, 2021 — Final deadline for all book entries, noon in submitter’s time zone
  • Feb, 10, 2021 — Final deadline for all other entries, noon submitter’s time zone
  • March 15, 2021 — All first place winners must be NFPW members for their entries to advance to the national contest.
