IWPA Announces Winners in Communications Contest
Chicago Writer Takes Top Award

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Illinois Woman's Press Association, an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), honored 79 winning entries from 23 individuals with Mate E. Palmer Communications Contest awards at its May 14 Awards Luncheon at the Chicago Athletic Association in Chicago.

The 35 1st place entries have gone on to NFPW for national judging. Results will be announced at the Sept. 8-10 conference in Seattle, Wash. This competition recognizes excellence in communications and covers a wide range of categories in print and electronic media, books, photography, advertising, public relations and Web sites.

Jan Lisa Huttner was winner of the Silver Feather Award for achieving the highest number of points of any entrant. She received 9 awards: five 1st place awards, one 2nd, two 3rds, and two honorable mentions for her feature articles, film reviews, columns, and celebrity interviews for publications such as World Jewish Digest, Women's Enews, ReallyGoodFilms.com and Chicago Woman. She and her husband Rich host the website Films42.com to help couples choose good movies that both men and women will enjoy.
