Careers in Community Journalism
The Illinois Woman's Press Association holds its 10th Annual Book Fair and
luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at the Chicago Athletic Association, 12
S. Michigan, Chicago. Authors, editors and publishers are invited to sell
their books at this event. There is no fee for a book table, but authors
must register for luncheon, which is $30 for IWPA members, guests and
students and $40 for nonmembers.
The luncheon speaker is Dennis Wheeler, editorial page editor for the
Star
Newspapers, a twice-weekly newspaper that has served Chicago's South Suburbs
for 103 years. Wheeler has worn many hats during his 34 year tenure with the
Star and will highlight careers in community journalism and how these
newspapers fulfill their mission.

The book fair begins at 11:00 a.m., the lunch is at 11:45; speaker at 12:45;
at the Book Fair resumes at 2 p.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Book authors should
arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. to set up. Pay by cash or check at the door.

and please list the titles of books you're bringing when you reserve.
Sleeping rooms are available at the Chicago Athletic Club for out of town
visitors for $80 for a twin or queen room, $100 for a king room. Please call
Colleen O'Brien at the CAA (312.236.7500, ext.2123) and ask for the IWPA
rate. Parking is available at the Grant Park underground garage; el and bus
stops are right outside the door.
