NFPW Seeks Nominations for Treasurer
![]()
The National Federation of Press Womens officer nomination deadline passed without any candidates filing for the office of treasurer so the elections committee in consultation with NFPW President Linn Rounds is reopening the nominations for the office.
The committee will accept nominations until Feb. 15. Five copies of the nomination, certification of support by the affiliate chapter, and a current photo should be filed with NFPW headquarters by the deadline.
The treasurer's job is a very important one to the organization. The treasurer oversees the receipt and deposit of all funds of the organization; disbursement of funds according to approved reimbursement procedures; and an itemized account of receipts and disbursements; presentation of detailed reports at business sessions, board of directors meetings and at the request of the president; and presentation of official mid-year reports.
The treasurer also helps draft NFPW's budget and may serve as treasurer of NFPW's education fund. In addition, there will be a need for the treasurer to work with a CPA to arrange for an audit of the organization's financial records generally once a year. An interest in financial matters and accessibility to headquarters and the board, especially the president, are key.
The elections committee encourages you to consider potential candidates from your affiliate for this important job. If you have questions about the nominations process, call or e-mail Marsha Shuler, elections committee chairman, (225) 342-7279, e-mail is mshuler@theadvocate.com.
