The Illinois Women's Press Association November 19, 2005, Book Fair celebrates the rich and diverse literary contributions from authors throughout our state and features some of IWPA's most accomplished authors. The event will be held for the first time at the Chicago Cultural Center. Located at 78 East Washington Street (Washington at Michigan), the building is one of Chicago's most treasured historical landmarks having first served as the city's central library for nearly 100 years. As our nation's first free municipal cultural center, the fair will be open to the public at no charge. We invite you to join us as we celebrate our exciting authors and their books.

IWPA member authors appearing at the fair from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. will include:

Marion Gold, past IWPA President, is an award-winning writer whose articles have appeared in national newspapers, magazines, and trade journals. Gold has been named to Today's Chicago Woman's list of 100 Women Making a Difference. TOP COPS: Profiles of Women in Command was excerpted in the Chicago
Sun-Times and cited by the Chicago Tribune. Gold's book received the endorsement of New York Governor George Pataki, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, and former Illinois Governor George Ryan.

Gen LaGreca, a former pharmaceutical chemist and a Chicago healthcare writer, has economists and social commentators raving about her first novel Noble Vision. Steve Forbes, Nobel laureate Milton Friedman and past American Medical Association President Edward Annis have all given high praise to LaGreca's thought-provoking medical thriller. Released by Winged Victory Press, a Chicago-based independent press dedicated to publishing works that celebrate the American spirit of individualism, the novel was a finalist in the Houston Writers League Manuscript Contest.

Rachel Madorsky's unique book Create Your Own Destiny! Spiritual Path to Success is the desktop guide to health and maintaining one's karma. She tells how to open your positive energy and welcome the spiritual healing that exists within each of us. Madorsky lectures on the topics in her book at national and international conferences and has appeared on radio and television.

Cynthia Ogorek, former history museum director and native of the Calumet region, brings her first book to the fair, Along the Calumet River. Having written and published many local history articles, this book presents the evolution and development of the Calumet River encompassing most of the 24 communities in the corridor from South Chicago, Ill., to LaPorte, Ind., through some 200 vintage photographs.
