Nothing But Blue Skies at 2004 Printers Row Book Fair

IWPA members turned out in force for this year's Printers Row Book Fair on June 5 and 6, 2004. Our table was located in the Writer's Marketplace section, directly north of Sandmeyer's Bookstore. Access was good and traffic was constant. In fact, we distributed so many membership packets on Saturday that Cecilia Green had to run into her office early Sunday morning to print more application forms!
Unlike 2003 when intermittent thunderstorms on Sunday had us huddling under the canopy nursing hot cups of tea, the weather was splendid both days. By closing time, ninety-one ladies had dropped their contact information into our box. Later, we drew the name of our 2004 free membership winner. . .Ann Campanella of Zion.
Marion Gold, Betsy Green, Tina Jens, Ada Kahn, Rachel Madorsky, and Frances Callaway Parks each took a two-hour shift during which they displayed and sold copies of their books. Laura Bryant, Marcy Darin, Elizabeth Dickey, Sheila Elliot, Cecilia Green, Suzanne Hanney and Mary McNulty assisted them with meeting, greeting, and crowd control.
As the IWPA member living closest to the event, I was responsible for overall coordination. Everyone was prompt and shift changes went without a hitch, making my job a very easy one. So save these date, June 4 & 5, 2005, and I'll look forward to seeing even more of you at next year's PRBF!
