Join us on February 18th for our second annual film program! This year, our theme is women screenwriters, and our two guests will be hometown filmmakers Rosie Goldberg and Marisol Torres.

Rosie's film Bloom, which she also produced, won a prestigious "Women in Film" finishing grant, had its world premiere at the International Hispanic Film Festival in Palm Springs Valley, CA last October, and has been accepted into the 22nd Chicago International Latino Film Festival scheduled for late April. For more information, visit the Bloom website.

Boricua
Marisol's film Boricua, which she also directed, was a hit at multiple film festivals including our own 2004 Chicago International Film Festival, and is already available on DVD. Based primarily in Humboldt Park as well as Columbia College's Dearborn Park neighborhood, Boricua tells the intertwined stories of four young Puerto Rican Americans (German, Lola, Tata, and Willy), all of whom are caught up in conflicts which test their sense of self and lead them each on a quest for affirmation. For more information, visit the Boricua website.
