IWPA Communications Ambassador Program

This is how the program works:

Whenever you become aware of an event that you think provides a WIN-WIN, call or email IWPA President Marion Gold for an ambassador application. Just fill out the application and fax or mail it to Marion Gold with a copy of the meeting invitation/agenda. If the ambassador team agrees that the event is a WIN-WIN, IWPA will fax or email you an expense form. In any case, you will hear back from us within 72 hours.

Applications will be handled on a first-come basis and there is a $50 reimbursement limit for each event. We hope to provide maximum member participation and reach as many different organizations as possible, so there is a limit of one event per member per year and ten events per year (September - June).

During the event, we ask that you introduce yourself to key contacts including one or more of that organization's officers and the program chair/speakers. Tell them your attendance is sponsored by IWPA and that you will be writing a roundup article for PenPoints. IWPA will be happy to send a complimentary copy of the issue that includes your article to these contacts, so don't forget to get their business cards!

The completed expense form must be mailed to IWPA within two weeks following the event, along with the original registration fee receipt, the names and addresses or business cards of the key contacts, AND your 500- to 800-word article for PenPoints. Please include a 3- to 5-sentence bio; you may also include your photo which will run, space permitting.

Your reimbursement check will arrive in your mailbox within 30 days after we receive the article and the completed expense form with receipt. You must be a member of IWPA to participate as an ambassador.

Below is just a sample of local organizations whose programs may qualify for ambassador attendance. Many have national affiliations.

Literary and Communications-related Trade Associations
