Blogging Part II: The Magic and the Mystery

You asked for it...you got it! After our very successful
September meeting on blogging, the audience begged for
more. So, we’ll continue on November 15 with a follow-up
program on more aspects of blogging, delving deeper in the
subject with some of the same experts.


Cindy Kurman Barrie
Cindy Kurman Barrie returns for an encore performance.
She is president and CEO of Kurman Communications, one
of Chicago’s most successful public relations agencies for 25 years. Cindy’s successful company does public relations and marketing for authors and publishers, events and meetings, among many others. Her client list has included Henry Ford, Jesse Jackson, Neil Armstrong and Julia Child. She was named to the Today’s Chicago Woman Hall of Fame in 2003. Her blog: GotBuzz on Kurman.com

Keidra Chaney
Keidra Chaney has been added to the panel. She is emerging media specialist at DePaul University, working on social media initiatives for the Office of Advancement. She blogs at The Learned Fangirl. She is a writer and journalist for online and print publications, including ALARM Magazine, Chicagoist.com, Venuszine.com, Time Out Chicago, Centerstagechicago.com and more. She's spoken at MIT and University of Michigan about writing and online culture. She is also a board member of Association for Women Journalists - Chicago and Web consultant for Teaching Artist Journal.

Marlys Styne
Marlys Styne, who is recovering from double knee surgery, is a tentative repeat panelist if she is able. An award winning blogger and writer, after 40 years of teaching and chairing the English Department at Chicago’s popular Wilbur Wright College, she retired and began a journey of reinvention.

Today, she is an active member of Illinois Woman’s Press Association and a recipient of the coveted First Place Award in Web Writing. She is the author of Reinventing Myself: Memoirs of a Retired Professor and Seniorwriting: A Brief Guide for Seniors Who Want to Write. Her blog: http://Seniormemoirs.blogspot.com

Mary T. Wagner
Mary T. Wagner is the assistant district attorney for Sheboygan County, Wis. As a criminal prosecutor, law was always her second passion. Her first love is journalism. She is not only a new member of Illinois Woman’s Press Association, but she is also the 2008 winner of the prestigious IWPA Silver Feather Award. She has recently published her book, Running with Stilettos, a collection of entries from her blog, Running With Stilettos - Living A Balanced Life in Dangerous Shoes. www.runningwithstilettos.com
