Get the Recognition You Deserve
Enter the IWPA’s communications contest. We have 92 categories and encourage everyone to enter their best work in books, other print and electronic media, advertising and public relations, and research. The deadline is Jan. 4, 1999, and entry blanks will be sent in November.

Help Needed for Communications Contest
Have you been an award winner in the annual communications contest? Have you benefited from the increased recognition as an award-winning communicator? Perhaps now is the time to help IWPA in return by volunteering to serve on the communications contest committee. In previous years, about 120 entries have been received. Please contact Cecilia Green at (847) 706-3561 or cgreen@soa.org for more information.

Health Plan for Home-Based Businesses
The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is a regional business organization serving the six counties of Northeastern Illinois. Its 2,500 member firms employ more than 1 million people.

"While our member base includes every Fortune 500 company from Amoco to Zenith, 81% of the members are small businesses with fewer than 100 employees. Given the fact that small businesses are the fastest growing segment of the American economy, this isn’t surprising," Roper. "We’ve tailored programs, services and benefits toward smaller businesses because that is where the need is greatest."

Among the programs the Chamber has developed is a health and dental insurance plan custom designed in cooperation with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. "Our plan will cover as few as two people, which makes it ideal for home-based businesses, free-lance writers, etc.," said Chamber President Jerry Roper. "Because of the large number of smaller Chamber firms, we were able to negotiate competitive premiums usually reserved for major employers." Other chamber benefits include discounts on Airborne Express, Ameritech cellular equipment and service, and AT&T long distance.
