Catherine Simmons-Gill practices law, teaches and provides business consulting services to clients who range from Fortune 100 companies to entrepreneurial firms to individuals.

In the legal arena, she focuses on intellectual property including trademark, copyright, trade secret and Internet law counseling and litigation of both intellectual property general commercial disputes. She serves as the de facto general counsel of certain entrepreneurial organizations. In her present office and teaching arrangement, she is able to draw on the support of experienced attorneys, paralegals and clerks as necessary.

Her previous positions include General Counsel of two public companies, Chief Trademark counsel of a pharmaceutical company, partner in a Chicago law firm and Senior Counsel-Corporate Identify Counsel of Sears, Roebuck and Co.

As an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School, she also teaches International Trademark Law and has taught International Antitrust and Intellectual Property, Trademark and Copyright Planning and Practice, Intellectual Property Licensing at the LL.M level, as well as Trademark/Copyright Law at the J.D. level. She is also a certified mediator.

She graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in June 1975 and received an A.B. degree with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1971. She is a member of the Illinois State, Federal, U.S.D.C. N.D. IL., Seventh Circuit and Court of International Trade Bars.
