Val Ensalaco, 2010 IWPA Communicator of AchievementSusan has been selected as the Illinois Woman’s Press Association’s 2011 Communicator of Achievement (COA). This prestigious award is the highest honor bestowed by the IWPA upon those members who have distinguished themselves within and beyond their profession.

  Susan has served IWPA in many capacities, including Treasurer and chair of the IWPA Tent at the Printers Row Lit Fest. She is the Dean of Academic Affairs at DeVry University in Chicago.  She is also a self-published author of Just Keep Dancing, her award winning autobiography, Susan is president of the publishing company Dreamers Tapestry, and an inspirational speaker on topics ranging from achieving personal goals, career success in high tech, breaking the cycle of abuse, and more through Susan Brauer.com.
Susan is active in a variety of professional organizations including the Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C²ST), the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Women in Engineering (WIE), the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Illinois Woman's Press Association (IWPA).

The Illinois Woman's Press Association, IWPA (since 1885) is an organization of communications professionals whose objective is to maintain and improve the professional standards of members in mass communications in Illinois, to promote their interest, and to provide for the sharing of ideas and information. Having celebrated 125 years in 2010, IWPA continues to hold a firm place in the history of women communicators in Illinois. Today, IWPA embraces members of all gender and generations. IWPA is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women.
