Dear IWPA Members,

It's that time again! Time to look back over your year's submissions and enter your work in the annual Mate E. Palmer Communications Contest, sponsored by the Illinois Woman's Press Association.

No matter what kind of communication you do, the contest has a niche for you. Categories include Print Media, Photography, Radio/TV, World Wide Web, Advertising, Public Relations/Promotion/Publicity, Books/Fiction/Verse, Research, and Speeches, plus separate Collegiate categories.

This contest is an excellent opportunity to showcase your professional work, have it evaluated by experts in your field, share your work with your peers, and gain state or even national recognition.

Award winners will be honored at our annual awards luncheon on May 15, 2010. First-place entries then go on to the national level. After another round of judging, the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) will honor national award winners at its annual conference in Chicago on August 26-28, 2010.

So start deciding! Even if you are unsure whether to enter an item, go ahead and do it. Many of our members have been pleasantly surprised by awards they've received for entries they almost didn't submit.

The entry deadline is January 18, 2010, and complete instructions and entry forms are attached. All entrants must be IWPA/NFPW members. For both renewing and first-timers a membership form is also attached.
