The entry period for the IWPA's 2012 Mate E. Palmer Communications Contest has ended. Watch this page for important future announcements. Student Communicators click (HERE) The annual Mate E. Palmer Communications Contest is open to members. The IWPA member accumulating the highest number of points in the contest will receive the coveted Silver Feather Award. All first-place entries will be submitted to the National Federation of Press Women's Communications Contest for national judging. All state winners are recognized at the awards banquet held in Chicago. First-place winners in each category and sub-category go on for judging in the National Federation of Press Women contest.  ~ Previous Mate E. The Illinois Woman's Press Association, IWPA (since 1885) is an organization of communications professionals whose objective is to maintain and improve the professional standards of members in mass communications in Illinois, to promote their interest, and to provide for the sharing of ideas and information. Having celebrated 125 years in 2010, IWPA continues to hold a firm place in the history of women communicators in Illinois. Today, IWPA embraces members of all gender and generations. IWPA is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women.
