You're invited to be a part of the exciting 2007 Illinois Woman's Press Association Book Fair! Registration deadline for IWPA authors closed August. 31, 2007. List of IWPA author participants.
Here are some of the details about this year's event that I would like to share with you. For the third year in a row, the fair will be held at the landmark Chicago Cultural Center. The hours of the event (which remains free to the public) are from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Due to our agreement with the Chicago Cultural Center, all authors are asked to keep their tables open to the public until 4:00 pm as will be advertised. Authors may begin arriving at the center as early as 9:00 am but we ask that you have your table set up and ready for patrons no later than 9:45 am.
The Chicago Cultural Center is located at 77 East Randolph Street in downtown Chicago. The building occupies the block bordered by Michigan Avenue to the east, Randolph Street to the north, Garland Court to the west, and Washington Street to the south. Randolph is one way going west; to unload, we ask that you take Washington Street to Garland Court and proceed to the building dock. Parking is available at a number of parking garages in the area.
Experienced volunteers will be on hand to greet and show you to your table, draped with linen and ready for your tabletop displays in the Randolph Café. (Wall displays/posters and audiovisual presentations are not permitted.) The Randolph Café also offers food service should you want to purchase something to eat while at the fair.
This year we are asking each author to provide a jpeg of the cover(s) of the books they plan to show. Also new this year, IWPA is asking each author to provide no less than two local media outlets with contact information for fair press releases. (Please don't list the major news outlets. These should be local to your town or community.) Anyone interested in working on fair PR should also contact me.
