30 Illinois Authors and Publishers Headline October Book Fair
at Chicago Cultural Center

The diversity of Illinois writing will be highlighted when thirty accomplished authors and publishers gather on October 21, 2006, to exhibit their work at the Illinois Woman's Press Association Book Fair. These are Illinois writers and publishers who will impress you with their knowledge, determination, and creativity.

Cheryl Corley of NPR's Chicago Bureau will guest emcee for the book fair. Corley joined NPR in 1995 as a general assignment reporter and has covered issues and events across America. She has produced arts and human-interest features and served as a fill-in host of NPR's Morning Edition and Weekend All Things Considered.

Her achievements include the Community Media Workshop's Studs Terkel Award for excellence in reporting on Chicago's diverse communities and a Herman Kogan Award for reporting on immigration issues.

Date: Saturday, October 21, 2006
Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Place: Randolph Street Café at the historic Chicago Cultural Center

This event is free and open to the public. Books will be sold throughout the day by The Shop at the Cultural Center, and authors will be happy to autograph the books purchased.

Founded in 1885 by Chicago's earliest women journalists, Illinois Woman's Press Association now includes journalists, freelance writers, book authors, public relations practitioners, educators, and other professional communicators. It conducts an annual professional communications contest and a high school journalism contest. IWPA is the state affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, which is dedicated to professional excellence and to the rights and responsibilities of the First Amendment.
