Reserve Your Exhibit Space TODAY
for IWPA's November Book Fair
On Saturday, November 19 IWPA authors will meet the public when our book fair
moves to the Chicago Cultural Center, located at North Michigan Avenue and Randolph
Street in downtown Chicago. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with IWPA's
speaker program from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. AND thanks to THE SHOP at the Chicago
Cultural Center, books will be sold throughout the day!
August 1 is the deadline for IWPA authors to reserve their exhibit space, before
space is opened to nonmember Illinois authors.
Payment must accompany registration. Here are the details:
- The book fair will be in The Café at the Cultural Center, which
has great public access and has hosted many major public events, such as the
Center's All That Glitters holiday bazaar. IWPA's speaker program will be
in the nearby Garland Court meeting room, and will be open to the public.
This year's program does not include lunch, but there will be food available
at The Café at the Cultural Center.
- The expanded venue will accommodate 30 authors/exhibitors, one to a table.
- Fifteen tables are reserved for IWPA authors up to an August 1 deadline,
and 15 for non-member Illinois-only authors. After August 1, unused IWPA spaces
will be released for non-member authors who are wait-listed for an exhibit
table.
- To reserve your table, the enclosed reservation form and payment must be
received by IWPA by August 1. Please include a 100-word paragraph about "you"
and/or your book(s) to use in the promotional material.
- IWPA member display tables will be interspersed with non-members to increase
the flow of traffic and visibility of IWPA'ers. Sorry, no table sharing will
be allowed except by co-authors or publishers who bring an author.
- Publicists and Illinois-based publishers are invited to buy a table, but
only if they represent at least one Illinois author who must be present and
whose book(s) must be featured.
- Exhibit tables will not be available to bookstores.
- The exhibit fee for IWPA members is only $30.
The exhibit fee for nonmembers is $45.
- To be announced are the IWPA program speaker and a celebrity Master (or
Mistress) of Ceremonies, who will open the event AND bring authors to the
microphone to present a 5-minute summary of their book.
Book sales will be handled by The Shop at the Cultural Center, which will provide
more security, better traffic flow and enable sales to continue during our IWPA
speaker program. The bookstore will have consignment forms that announce the
20 percent fee, which will cover their additional staffing, accounting time
and credit card fees. Books will need a bar code or price tag for easier handling,
and all vendors must have an Illinois Tax ID. Registrants will be provided with
information at a later date as to where and how to ship their books to The Shop
in advance of the event. Non-sold books must be retrieved when the event closes
at 3 p.m. Payment from book sales will be remitted to exhibitors within 30 days
of the event. AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT THOSE PESKY RETURNS! All sales are final.
