We’re spreading the news

By Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas, VP / Membership Chair

What a great year it has been for the Illinois Woman’s Press Association! Our membership has reached over 100 this spring. IWPA presented an outstanding line-up of speakers and programs attracting many new members and enabling our organization to recruit and retain a diverse membership of creative professionals from a variety of communication fields. One had only to attend the annual spring awards luncheon in May to hear the many accomplishments of our membership or browse the eclectic mix of books and their authors presented at the IWPA tent during the Printers Row Book Fair in June.

Networking has always been important to IWPA. With the 125th anniversary of IWPA only two years away we encourage all of our members to spread the word, letting other journalists, authors, free-lancers, photographers, and media professionals know about this exciting time for us.

IWPA welcomed the following new members in 2008: April Albrecht, Jeff Bolson, Julie Casserly, David Clark, Olivia Cobiskey, Myrle Croasdale, Pam DeFiglio, Deborah Donovan, Miranda Dos Santos, Meghan Fahy, Deborah Finley, Amelia Flood, Betsy Fritscher, Jodie Jacobs, Ashley Keyser, Mary Klest, Emily Kohlbeck, Lynne Kornecki, Anna Marie Kukec Tomczyk, Diane Laux, Angie Leszczak, Amy Lillard, Celeste Martinez, Bonnie McGrath, Christine Moyer, Lisa Nelson, Regina Nuttall, Francine Pappadis Friedman, Dr. Skakuntala

Rajagopal, Maija Rothenberg, George Scheber, Betsy Storm, Marcela Toledo, Aileen Vertiz, Mary Wagner, Pamela Wehbi, Michele Weldon, and Stephanie Wilson-Coleman. (Membership as of May 17, 2008.)

We look forward to hearing from all of our members with ideas, suggestions and comments about their interests, expectations and involvement in IWPA. To share your suggestions or if you have questions about membership please email mwolfastro@aol.com.
