Wow, the educational opportunities were impressive and inspiring. The speakers have such diverse backgrounds and accomplishments, and all generously shared their expertise. The techies—the bloggers and tweeters—rallied us toward social media and took time to answer the most elementary of questions. (I know that’s true because they answered mine.) I was introduced to the work of authors I hadn’t known—Sarah Bird and Mike Cox, for two—and learned the importance of building a following for our work.
Heloise, as in “Hints from Heloise,” palled around for the weekend. She’s a long-time member of the Texas NFPW chapter. She regaled us with stories about her mother, the original Heloise, and was named Communicator of Achievement. The schedule was full, but I still found time to bid on several items at the silent auction, a fundraiser for the NFPW Education Fund.
